Aylin Öney Tan / Gastronomic Culture Researcher
Architect, conservator, food writer, independent researcher, columnist.
Aylin Öney Tan is an architect, restoration expert, food researcher of regional cuisines and of culinary history. She is the food columnist for Hürriyet Daily News (Fork & Cork), as well as a contributing writer for Al Monitor and Bon Voyage, gastronomy & travel magazine. Aylin has several in-depth research and studies on Turkish food history and culture. She is a regular participant of Oxford Symposium on Food and Cookery, where she has won the Sophie Coe Award for food history in 2008. She has written the entry for Turkey in the Food Cultures of the World Encyclopedia; Street Foods of the World Encyclopedia and contributed to the Oxford Companions to Sugar & Sweets and Cheese. Aylin guides and gives consultancy to food writers and media crews on food culture and history of Turkey. She was listed as one of the best 12 culinary guides of the world by Travel & Leisure magazine. She is the leader of Slow Food Ankara Convivium and the author of ‘A Taste of Sun & Fire: Gaziantep Cookery’. She is currently writing the History of Food in Turkey for Reaktion Publications in the UK.
Wilco van Herpen / Journalist, Traveler
Wilco Van Herpen was born in Netherlands. He started to his career with cookery being his father’s profession. After the culinary education, he worked as cook in various important restaurants of Netherlands; then, he stepped on professional photography an important change in his life.
He visited South Africa and many European countries. The career of Wilco Van Harpen who began to live in Turkey in 1999 that he started as photography artist changed direction after a while with propositions coming from channels such as IZTV, TRT2, TV8, TRT Avaz, CNN TURK and NTV. He operated vegetarian restaurant for a while, he provided cuisine consultancy services to many restaurant.
This sincere connection that he formed by "Wilco’s Caravan", "Wilco’s Selection", "Not Foreigner" with Turkish viewers become so apparent that he won the award “Modern Evliya Çelebi” in 2011 with the documentaries and travel programs.
Wilco Van Herpen keeps working currently as documentarist, cook, photographer and journalist. He narrates Turkey with his funny, human and environmentalist artistic approach with a perspective of a foreigner to his viewers without compromising from his sincerity through the programs "Wilco’s Caravan", “Long Live Meal with Wilco”, “Two Eyes One City” , which are being broadcast on İz TV and “From Europe to Anatolia” on NTV.
Erdal Çeri / Owner of Çeri Turizm Agency
Erdal ÇERİ, born in 1969, graduated from Tehran High School and the Department of Electric Engineering of Yıldız Technical University, was met with tourism sector during his school years. Erdal ÇERİ who made travelling, seeing and recognizing for years as both a hobby and a profession, has a professional experience over a quarter of a century in sale,,operation, contract management, agency and hotel relations and other related issues especially intended to domestic tourism and cultural tours.
After having worked for many years in positions and top management in all departments in the leading company of the sector such as Anı Tur, Simena Turizm, İrem Tur, Miltur, Asya Tur and Prontotour, in 2007he founded his own tourism agency with A-Group Certificate, certified by Tursab (Association of Turkish Travel Agencies).
Erdal ÇERİ, knowing that his professional knowledge and experience in tourism and service sector have been formed due to the tens of thousands of profiles of people with whom he has met and to whom he has given service, is continuing his carrier by providing people with his knowledge and background in consultancy, training, organization and related information on tourism, sale and service sector. He continues to perform functions the President of Cultural Tourism Committee of the Association of Turkish Travel Agencies (Türsab).
He has taken training in aviation branches like parachute and glider beside travelling and exploring new places being his main hobby.

She studied in the Department of Dramatic Authorship of the Faculty of Fine Arts of Dokuz Eylül University. She worked as copywriter, strategist and creative director in national advertising agencies. She attended to the trainings of New York Writers Academy in 2005-2006. She was specialized in the field of urban marketing. She produced marketing contents and projects for various corporate brands and cities. The new generation urban marketing project "@cityofizmir" that she projected with EGİAD and Izmir Metropolitan Municipality in 2015 became FIRST CORPORATE URBAN MARKETING ACCOUNT OF TURKEY by reaching to 100 thousand organic followers in 1 year.
She prepared series of articles for Hürriyet Ege ve Hürriyet Seyahat from 2012 to 2016. She has currently column in Hürriyet Kelebek on Tuesdays and Fridays where she narrates her urban, human and travel observations. She travels to "unexplored distant places", writes and takes photographs for national & international magazines and various airline brands of the world. She takes places as lecturer at various universities by BAHAR AKINCI DIGITAL WRITING WORKSHOP that she has initiated for young business people who wish to give a new direction to their carrier.
Ömer Kartın / Owner of Alakart Travel Agency
He was born on 1967 in Istanbul. He continued his education in Boğaziçi University after Galatasaray High School and took master degree in Marmara University.
He has been in tourism sector for 30 years although he studied engineering. Alakart Turizm of which he is owner and manager operates in fields of luxury segment (especially gastronomy), MICE and B2B. He also provides consultancy services. He carries out the function of General Secretary of the Gastronomic Tourism Committee of TÜRSAB (Association of Turkish Travel Agencies). The total number of Michelin stars of the restaurants in which he has performed tasting is approaching to 100. Furthermore, he participated to various workshops on gastronomy in Bologna, Bordeaux, Bilbao and Glasgow. He became founder and manager of Non-Governmental Organizations related to the subject.

Bülent Akgerman, born in 1969 in Istanbul, has completed his secondary education in Robert College, his university education in Department of Tourism and Business Administration of Bilkent University.
He started his career in 1989 as an Information Officer in Çittur, where he is currently the Chairman of Executive Board. At present, he perform functions of Chairman of Executive Board of Çimstone, More Aquare and AKG UK and USA Trading Ltd. and Vice Chairman of Executive Board of AKG Gazbeton and Ertuğ Balık. He has also the duties of Vice Chairman of Executive Board of Rekmar Reklamcılık and Urla Şarapçılık.
Bülent Akgerman is Honorary Consul of Ireland in Aegean Region. Currently, he is member of Assembly of Izmir Chamber of Commerce, member of Presidency Council of High Advisory Board of ESIAD, Vice Chairman of Executive Board of TABA – AmCham, Member of Executive Board of Izmir Branch of Aegean Forest Foundation and Italian Chamber of Commerce, Deputy President of Executive Board of Çimentaş Education and Health Foundation, member of KALDER, İRD, EÇEV, Fenerbahçe1907, Junior Chamber International Senator and member of Association of Cuisine Friends. Currently, he is also perform functions member of Executive Board and Izmir Founding Presidency of Turkey Chaine des Rotisseurs.
Hande Arslanalp / Owner of İtaltur Tourism / President of Gastronomic Tourism Committee of TURSAB (Association of Turkish Travel Agencies)
She was born in Izmir. She was graduated from Ege University, Faculty of Business Administration, Department of Tourism Management. She started her professional career in 1990. She founded the İTALTUR TURİZM Travel Agency on 24.11.1997. She is currently shareholder and perform functions of General Director of the Company continuing its 20th year of operation. Among the functions that she has performed are: Member of Central Disciplinary Board of Association of Turkish Travel Agencies (TURSAB), Member of IATA Committee between 2007 and 2015, Member of Central Executive Board of TURSAB between 2013 and 2015, Vice Chairman of Executive Board of İzmir Congress Visitor Office (Izmir CVB), Founder Member of Executive Board in Association of Izmir Health Tourism. At present, she is carrying out functions of Executive Board Member of IZTAV, Chairman Advisor of TURSAB and the President of the Gastronomic Tourism Committee.
Mehmet Ulusoy / Chairman of Executive Board of Atölye Group
Mehmet Ulusoy, born in Mudurnu Bolu, has entered to Galatasaray High School by taking 41st rank in Turkey and then to Boğaziçi University as 98th of Turkey in Student Selection Examination (ÖSS) and took the education on Tourism Business Management. He took the culinary education in the Vocational Education Center of Bolu İzzet Baysal University and he was granted the grade of Master Instructing Chef. Concurrently, he entered to Bilgi University as 646th of Turkey and took the education of Art Direction.
After having worked in the entities Pacha Tours Paris and International, Hilton Istanbul and 1481; he has won many awards in Turkey and in the world including World Best Event Award in promotion events of private brands and Turkey by Atölye Group of which he is the founder. Moreover, he is the Chairman of Executive Board of the boutique hotel chain of Melek Hotels consisting of 5 hotels in different locations of Turkey and 3 restaurants of Melek Kitchen of which the first was opened in London.
Saffet Emre Tonguç / Historian - Travel Writer - Professional Guide
He was graduated from master departments of Tourism and Hotel Management, Political Sciences and International Relations and Ottoman Social History of Bosphorus University. He studied on doctorate studies on Business Management in Vienna University of Economics (Wirtschafts Universitat).
Since 1990 his photographs have been published in magazines and internet sites in various countries including America and Australia. The various houses and gardens she has designed were featured in magazines such as Maison Française, House Beautiful, Home Art, Marie Claire, Elele, InStyle and Bath + Kitchen. He traveled to more than 124 countries due to his professional and personal interests. Saffet Emre Tonguç, who has written regularly on Travel Journal of Hürriyet Newspaper, Istanbul Life and Skylife magazines, has written and published abroad such as Conde Nast Traveler, Travel and Leisure, National Geographic and Lonely Planet. His book, The Ultimate Guide in Istanbul, was reported by the New York Times and the International Herald Tribune. NTV’s "Paha Incommercial Istanbul" program reached the highest viewing ratings of the channel.
While the number of prizes that the author has taken in the field of tourism is 19, he has written 15 books in this field.

She continued her education in the field of "Professional French" in Besançon, "Centre Linguistique Appliquée" and then in CIAP institution of Nantes University by State Scholarship of France and she started working on "Gastronomy Terminology" and "French Cuisine".
Güven who completed her studies under Undergraduate Degree in the field "Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management", is pioneering to numerous international projects intended to innovative and creative urban marketing and gastronomic tourism. Her works in this field was crowned with "Honorary Degree" by the institution of Institute Paul Bocuse & LesToques Blanches Lyonnaise.
She is performing the administrative and academic duties in the Department of Culinary Arts and Management of Izmir Economy University as well as the Izmir Agency of "Delice Network - Network of the Good Food Cities of the World"
She is also a member of Board of Women Entrepreneurs of TOBB (Turkish Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges) and Izmir Executive Board of the Koruncuk Foundation.
Gila Benmayor / Columnist of Economy in the Hürriyet Newspaper / Gourmet Writer
Gila Benmayor, born in Istanbul, completed her secondary education in French High School of Notre Dame de Sion, then she took her bachelor degree in the Department of English Philology of Istanbul University and finally she took her undergraduate degree in Journalism and Public Relations the Faculty of Economics. She started journalism in the Department of International News of the Hürriyet Newspaper during her period of undergraduate education. While she was carrying on the tasks of assistant director, director and editor, she also performed various investigations and interviews in field in connection with foreign politics. Benmayor who has written a wide range of articles in the pages of Economics of Hürriyet for about 15 years, won the 2016 Press Award of Oktay Ekinci of the Chamber of Architects of TMMOB and the press awards of the Turkish Pharmacists’ Association and the Association of Turkish Freelance Architects.

He worked in the field of Food&Beverage in the hotel industry in 1993 for a short time. Then, Gökmen Sözen who received education on photography after having worked in Cine5 and Star Dijital, performed food, meal and gastronomy photography for many years. He worked on the advertising photography in the field of food and gastronomy in the most important companies of Turkey. Thereafter, he worked as photography editor of gastronomy of many companies in the Group of Bilişim Yayın. He performed editorship of gastronomy of various magazines. In 1999, he started working in out-of-home industry, HoReCa, professional gastronomy sector. Sözen continued to work as a food photographer until 2005, and he also worked as a tourism editor. In 2007 he founded his own publishing group and started publishing 3 magazines in his publishing group. Furthermore, he realized the most important gastronomic media publishing of the industry through Food in Life World provided internationally from Turkey as well as FoodinLife, Patisserie by Food in Life provided to Turkey, and news portals, digital publishing, catalogues and many other media.
He founded an organization company and inserted the most important professional gastronomy competitions in the most important fairs of Turkey by their patents. Hotels, restaurants and cafes of Turkey participated in these competitions. His professionals in Turkey both domestic and international gastronomic tourism based on totally local products. He organized very important workshops and conferences in Turkey. He created Gastromesa which became one of the most important brands of Turkey by the works that he started in 2014. Gastromasa entered in the top 10 conferences worldwide. It was held as a conference totally based on gastronomy and cuisine. He brought chefs and media to Turkey from all over the world and laid the foundations for start up of international works in future.
Aylin Yazıcıoğlu / Chef and Owner of Nicole Restaurant
She was born in 1967 in İstanbul. After Galatasaray High School she graduated from the Department of Sociology of Bosphorus University. Aylin Yazıcıoğlu who continued to her academic life in United Kingdom started her doctoral education in Social History in Cambridge University after MA in Gender Studies in Essex University. In 3rd year of her doctorate she decided to leave Cambridge and to go into cuisine. In 2005 she started her culinary education in Cordon Bleu Paris. Then, she worked for 8 years in every stage of cuisine together with high level chefs majority of which has Michelin Star, in several European cities including Paris particularly. In 2013, she returned to the city where she was born, to "her Istanbul" in her words. She founded Nicole Restaurant with Kaan Sakarya. She has been both the owner and chef of Nicole Restaurant since 2015 where Kaan Sakarya left it.
Müge Akgün / Gastronomy Columnist of Hürriyet Newspaper
She worked as a Teacher of Turkish and Literature at Izmir State Conservatory after graduating from the Department of Turkish and Literature of Buca Education Faculty of 9 Eylül University. Concurrently, she continued her education at the Department of Cinema and Television of 9 Eylül University. Then, she went to Norway and graduated from the Department of Social Anthropology of Oslo University. After returning to Turkey, she worked as director, producer and copywriter in TRT Istanbul Television.
She passed to printed media in 2004. She performed functions of Culture and Arts Editor and made interviews in Referans and Turkish Daily News newspapers. She started writing on food and beverage, travel and urban culture through the page of City and Life with Müge Akgün. She continued to write column in Radikal Newspaper as from 2010 until it was closed; she prepared the page of ’Gusto with Müge Akgün’. She has been writing in the Supplement of Kelebek of the Hürriyet Newspaper since April 2016.
Metin Süerkan / Owner of Brand Travel, Chef
He was born in 1973 in Istanbul, graduated from the Department of Hotel Management of Marmara University. He took culinary lessons at the university and then he received culinary education abroad. He has been writing articles on food in Brand Life and Q Daily magazines and shooting on food with chefs since 2009. He regularly organizes cooking courses together with chefs who are successful in their fields. He is also a member of Gastronomy Committee of Tursab and the founder of Brand Travel. He is performing also Cuisine and Tourism consultancy in Guesthouse of Baksı Museum.
